Speak Up!

Speak Up! was a project working with 200 young people in Devon and in Bolton devising and producing sound work for radio which took place between 2010 and 2012. Initiated by arts organisation Aune head Arts, the project’s intention was to develop skills in speaking and listening, enabling communication between young people and the wider community. Working alongside Soundart Radio, Diversity in Barrier Breaking Communications (DBBC) and radio producer Kate Rudman (Sound Communities), Aune head Arts devised and developed the project so that young people were involved in all aspects of making radio. As project assistant I was involved in teaching teenagers script writing, sound recording and editing techniques during the process of making radio dramas and audio maps.
